  • LiLic Sidecar was publicly demonstrated by Vision Group at YOTTA 2026 in Las Vegas.
  • The system connects to an 800 V DC busbar (±400 V) and supports the OCP ORV4 open-rack standard.
  • Its LIC-and-LFP hybrid design is intended to combine transient-load smoothing with short-duration backup.
  • A five-module cabinet configuration is rated at 1 MW discharge power and at least 60 seconds of backup at a 1 MW load.
  • The disclosure concerns a product demonstration; commercial deployment and order data were not provided.

Vision Group used YOTTA 2026 in Las Vegas, held on September 29–30, to publicly showcase LiLic Sidecar, an HVDC backup-power system designed for high-density AI data centers. The company also displayed HVDC equipment, BBU systems and BESS products.

LiLic Sidecar connects directly to an 800 V DC busbar (±400 V) and is compatible with the OCP ORV4 open-rack standard. Its hybrid cell design combines lithium-ion capacitors (LIC) for cyclic pulse loads with LFP batteries for backup energy, positioning the unit to address both rapid load fluctuations and short-duration power continuity requirements.

In the stated five-module operating configuration, each LiLic Sidecar cabinet is rated for 1 MW of discharge power. Vision Group states that the cabinet can provide at least 60 seconds of backup at a 1 MW load. These specifications apply to a single cabinet in that configuration, rather than to the capacity or autonomy of a specific data-center project.

The product presentation reflects growing interest in power architectures designed for the dynamic characteristics of AI computing loads, rather than emergency backup alone. HVDC integration and OCP ORV4 compatibility could make hybrid storage systems of this type relevant for standardized high-density AI infrastructure, although no commercial deployments, orders, sales or installed base were disclosed.

Почему это важно

Rising AI rack densities are increasing the need for power systems that can both absorb rapid demand fluctuations and provide compact short-duration backup. LiLic Sidecar illustrates the potential role of HVDC architectures and hybrid storage in combining transient-load support with backup capability in a single unit; its OCP ORV4 compatibility could make this equipment class relevant to standardized high-density AI deployments.
