Vertiv Japan has officially opened an office in Tennozu, Shinagawa, Tokyo, establishing a direct local presence after previously selling into Japan through distributors. The Japanese legal entity was formed in February 2025.
The office includes service engineers, sales personnel and administrative staff, as well as a Vertiv Experience Center (VEC). The facility features a miniature modular AI data center model and VR demonstrations, providing a local environment for discussions around critical digital infrastructure design and deployment.
Vertiv said the Japanese operation will support major domestic projects for its existing global customers while expanding engagement with local partners and operators. The company links demand for critical digital infrastructure across Asia to AI adoption, cloud expansion and digital transformation.
At the opening, Vertiv outlined its view of the AI data center market: higher rack densities, the need to deploy facilities at scales of hundreds of MW or 1 GW more quickly, and growing attention to high-voltage DC power, onsite generation and liquid cooling. These are market and technology expectations articulated by Vertiv, rather than disclosed specifications for a Japanese customer project or Vertiv-operated facility.
The new office could shift part of Vertiv’s Japanese go-to-market model toward closer direct support for complex, large-scale deployments. Its emphasis on modular and integrated infrastructure suggests that time-to-deployment and energy-system readiness could become more important supplier-selection criteria for AI data center projects. However, the available information does not confirm new contracts, commissioned data center capacity, investment in the office, team size, supplied infrastructure capacity or customer-project timelines.
The move gives Japan’s large AI data center projects more direct access to Vertiv’s engineering, service and demonstration capabilities. It could also intensify competition among suppliers of power, cooling and modular infrastructure as operators place greater weight on deployment speed and power-system readiness; no Japanese orders, delivered capacity or investment figures were disclosed.
