Super Micro Computer has materially increased its preliminary first-quarter fiscal 2027 outlook, pointing to sustained demand linked to AI data-center infrastructure.
The company now expects quarterly revenue of $18.5 billion–$19.5 billion, compared with its previous guidance range of $14.5 billion–$15.5 billion. The new range is also above the $15.23 billion revenue consensus cited for LSEG analysts. Super Micro attributed the revision to strong demand in the AI supply chain and an improved product mix.
Preliminary gross-margin guidance was raised to 12%–12.5%, from 10.4%–10.8%. The combination of higher expected revenue and margin guidance suggests that demand conditions are improving not only for server volumes but also for the company’s expected sales mix.
The update was followed by a sharp after-hours market reaction on October 20. Super Micro shares had closed the regular session at $32.47, up 1.15%, before rising 16.35% to $37.78 in after-hours trading. The company is scheduled to release its full quarterly report on November 3.
For the data-center supply chain, the guidance revision could be read as a positive indicator for continued demand for AI-oriented compute platforms and potentially for adjacent data-center equipment categories, including networking and related infrastructure. However, the company’s preliminary outlook is a manufacturer-level demand signal rather than evidence of commissioned data-center capacity. It does not quantify confirmed orders, completed deliveries, or newly operational AI data centers.
The source also forecasts that combined AI-infrastructure spending by Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Meta will exceed $700 billion this year, although it does not provide a breakdown by company, region, project, or operational facility.
The revised outlook is an indicator of continued demand for server hardware supporting AI data-center workloads. It does not, however, demonstrate new data-center capacity entering service, confirmed equipment deliveries, or the pace at which orders will be fulfilled.
