  • Six Samsung Group companies announced a combined $1 billion investment in Helix Digital Infrastructure.
  • Samsung Electronics’ announced commitment is $500 million.
  • Helix’s stated scope spans hyperscale data centers, generation, power transmission and distribution, and fiber infrastructure.
  • Helix plans to work with energy developers, including Vistra, to accelerate access to electrical capacity.
  • The investment could support a more vertically integrated approach to AI data-center and power infrastructure.

Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance have announced plans to invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure. Samsung Electronics is expected to contribute $500 million of that total.

Helix was established by KKR in June 2026 and is led by former AWS CEO Adam Selipsky. The platform is positioned as an integrated AI-infrastructure provider spanning the development and operation of hyperscale data centers, baseload and flexible generation, electricity transmission and distribution, and fiber-optic networks.

The investment structure points to a broader infrastructure approach to AI capacity build-outs: data-center development is being linked directly to the power supply, grid and connectivity assets required to support large-scale compute loads. Helix plans to work with energy developers, including Vistra, to accelerate access to the electrical capacity it requires.

Samsung plans to bring capabilities in semiconductors, data-center cooling, EPC services and energy-storage systems to its engagement with Helix. This could create a route for the group’s technology and infrastructure businesses to participate across the physical stack of large AI projects, rather than solely through individual equipment categories.

KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and Vistra are identified as initial Helix investors. The transaction may indicate growing investor interest in vertically integrated AI-infrastructure platforms, where data centers, energy resources, grid infrastructure and cooling are developed within a single investment and operating framework. Such models could increase the competitive importance of secured power access and energy assets for major AI workloads.

Почему это важно

The investment reinforces the shift toward integrated AI-infrastructure models that combine hyperscale data centers with power generation, grid infrastructure and fiber networks. For large AI deployments, access to dependable electrical capacity and associated energy assets could become as strategically important as data-center development itself.
