Sensata Technologies has presented its sensor and protection portfolio as an enabler of more resilient data center infrastructure for higher-density AI workloads.
The company’s material focuses on pressure, temperature and flow measurement in cooling systems, alongside electrical circuit protection and local power-resilience applications. It does not identify a customer, data center site, equipment deployment, commercial contract or capacity addition.
Sensata links rising AI rack densities with a transition from air cooling to liquid cooling. In conventional CRAC and CRAH environments, it highlights the need for accurate refrigerant temperature and pressure monitoring. It also points to demand for leak detection as the industry moves toward A2L refrigerants.
According to the material, air cooling alone begins to face challenges above 10–15 kW of IT rack density, while liquid-cooling systems can support 30–100 kW and above. These are industry technical reference ranges cited by Sensata, rather than specifications for a named deployment or project.
The company also references 800VDC architectures, positioning them as a means to reduce conversion losses and improve system performance. In areas with constrained or unstable grids, the material further identifies local power resilience and power-circuit protection as relevant infrastructure requirements.
For operators, the underlying implication is that the move to high-density AI infrastructure may require more than new cooling hardware. More detailed monitoring of coolant conditions, flow and leakage, together with robust power-chain protection, could become increasingly important to maintaining operational resilience as rack densities and infrastructure complexity increase.
Higher-density AI workloads are increasing requirements for heat rejection, cooling-loop control and power-chain reliability. Sensata’s framing reflects a broader infrastructure shift toward liquid cooling, closer monitoring of coolant conditions and stronger electrical protection; this could expand demand for sensors, flow monitoring, leak detection and power-circuit protection alongside core cooling equipment.
