SB Energy is reportedly preparing for an IPO as early as September 2026, despite having no operating data centers among the three facilities currently planned.

The company says it has secured contracts associated with $430 billion in potential data-center revenue. OpenAI is identified as the principal customer under those agreements, while NVIDIA is providing some financial support. The disclosed figure is potential contract revenue, rather than recognized revenue, cash received or committed investment.

For investors, the proposed transaction centers on the gap between contracted AI-infrastructure demand and delivery of the physical capacity needed to serve it. All three data centers referenced in the offering materials remain pre-operational. No capacity, development schedule or specific site information was disclosed.

SB Energy has worked on solar-generation and battery-storage projects since 2019, positioning the planned data-center program at the intersection of power infrastructure and AI-oriented digital infrastructure. However, the investment case remains dependent on execution, including construction delivery, capital deployment and the conversion of planned facilities into operating assets.

The proposed IPO could serve as an indicator of whether public capital is willing to fund data-center and energy developers before facilities begin generating operational revenue, where customer demand is represented by contracts but infrastructure delivery remains outstanding. The backdrop is increasingly competitive: Cleanview estimates that at least 360 companies are planning to build one or more data centers in the United States.

Почему это важно

The proposed listing would test public-market appetite for early-stage AI infrastructure development: demand may be contractually supported, but the underlying data-center assets have yet to enter service or establish an operating revenue base. It also highlights execution risk around construction lead times, upfront capital requirements and competition for U.S. sites, power resources and financing.
