GlobalWafers Reports Full Utilisation in Silicon and GaN Capacity as AI Data-Center Demand Lifts Power and Photonics Orders
Редакция ЦОД:Главное
GlobalWafers says demand from AI data centers is supporting orders for epitaxial materials used in PMICs, MOSFETs and silicon photonics. Its 8-inch silicon and 6-inch GaN lines are operating at full utilisation, with demand exceeding available supply, while new capacity is being installed for phased ramp-up from next year.
- 嘉晶 reports full utilisation at its 8-inch silicon and 6-inch GaN production lines, with demand above supply.
- The company forecasts AI-related revenue will reach 30% this year and exceed 40% in 2027.
- Ge/Si photodetectors for 800G and 1.6T pluggable optical modules have entered mass production following international customer validation.
- Existing silicon-photonics capacity covers less than half of the customer demand observed by the company.
- Capacity additions are being installed, with their impact expected to emerge progressively in 2027-2028.
Episil has reported structurally higher demand from AI data centers for power-device materials and silicon photonics, with its 8-inch silicon capacity and 6-inch GaN capacity fully utilised. According to the company, demand is exceeding supply, prompting an accelerated equipment installation programme and a phased capacity ramp beginning next year.
The company expects full-year revenue to increase by more than 35% year on year. It forecasts that AI-related revenue will account for 30% of revenue this year and more than 40% in 2027.
Demand is centred on epitaxial materials for power-management ICs and MOSFETs, as well as silicon-photonics applications. PMIC and MOSFET output increased by about 50% year on year.
Episil said its Ge/Si photodetectors have been validated by international customers and have entered mass production for pluggable 800G and 1.6T optical modules. Existing capacity meets less than half of the customer demand the company observes for silicon photonics.
First-half capital expenditure was about TWD 900 million. The company expects the impact of these investments to emerge progressively in 2027-2028. For data-center infrastructure supply chains, the update suggests that AI-driven demand is extending upstream beyond servers into power-electronics materials and high-speed optical-module components. Until additional lines are brought online, constrained capacity could continue to create tightness in these segments.
The update points to supply constraints in upstream components needed for AI-server power delivery and high-speed optical connectivity. Episil’s planned capacity additions could ease supply-chain pressure over time, but current production capacity remains insufficient to meet the customer demand the company is seeing.
