NVIDIA Qualifies Shell DLC Fluid Under DSX Ready Coolant Programme

Редакция ЦОД:Главное

Shell Lubricants has received NVIDIA DSX Ready Coolant qualification for Shell DLC Fluid, a PG25 propylene-glycol coolant designed for direct-to-chip liquid cooling. NVIDIA was the first to announce the qualification, according to the available source.

Главное
  • Shell DLC Fluid has received NVIDIA DSX Ready Coolant qualification.
  • The product is a PG25 propylene-glycol coolant for cold-plate-based direct-to-chip liquid cooling.
  • Shell targets the fluid at AI, HPC and high-density data-centre environments.
  • The qualification could help reduce evaluation and sourcing risk for direct liquid cooling deployments.
  • The reported qualification concerns Shell DLC Fluid, not Shell’s immersion-cooling fluid.

NVIDIA has qualified Shell Lubricants’ Shell DLC Fluid under its DSX Ready Coolant programme, according to the available source. Shell DLC Fluid is a PG25 propylene-glycol-based coolant intended for direct-to-chip, or direct liquid cooling, systems using cold plates.

Shell positions the fluid for AI, high-performance computing and data-centre environments with high power density. For operators deploying dense AI infrastructure, validation of coolant materials by a major accelerator supplier could provide an additional reference point in cooling-system selection and procurement.

The development is relevant to the expanding role of liquid cooling in infrastructure designed for high-density compute workloads. As heat removal and rack-level power density become more consequential in AI-cluster design, qualified materials could broaden the set of validated options available for direct-to-chip cooling deployments.

Shell also offers an Immersive Cooling Fluid for immersion-cooled servers. The reported NVIDIA qualification, however, applies to Shell DLC Fluid and its direct-to-chip application.

Почему это важно

The qualification could reduce technical and procurement risk for operators and integrators evaluating direct liquid cooling for AI servers. It may also support a more standardised supply chain for direct-to-chip cooling as thermal constraints and power density become central design considerations for AI clusters.
