  • NVIDIA has announced an Australian partnership with eight data-center and AI-infrastructure providers.
  • Partners are expected to operate AI factories; NVIDIA will provide DSX, accelerated compute, networking, software and ecosystem support.
  • The programme targets up to 2 GW of future energy-related buildout by 2027.
  • The target is planned capacity, not operating or commissioned capacity.
  • The programme could intensify competition for sites, grid interconnection, generation and data-center-ready buildings in Australia.

NVIDIA has announced a collaboration with Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, ResetData, Megaport, CDC, NEXTDC and AirTrunk to expand Australian infrastructure for NVIDIA DSX AI factories.

Under the model, the participating providers are expected to operate the AI factories, while NVIDIA will provide the DSX platform, accelerated computing, networking, software and ecosystem support. The programme is intended to increase the availability of land, power capacity and ready-to-deploy building shells capable of supporting multiple generations of NVIDIA DSX infrastructure.

NVIDIA has outlined up to 2 GW of buildout by 2027. This is a forward target for planned infrastructure development, not a statement of operational or commissioned capacity. The disclosed metric is energy capacity and does not specify how capacity would be allocated among the participating companies.

For the Australian market, the initiative reflects the increasing infrastructure requirements of AI compute deployments. Rather than focusing solely on accelerator supply, the arrangement combines infrastructure operators around a common compute, networking and software platform. If executed, this could increase demand for data-center sites, grid connections, power generation and available data-center shells, while potentially enabling more standardised deployment of large AI factories.

NVIDIA also characterises the programme as supporting additional power-generation projects. However, no specific generation assets, capacities, schedules or delivery commitments have been disclosed.

Почему это важно

The initiative signals a shift from stand-alone AI accelerator deployments toward coordinated delivery of power-intensive data-center infrastructure, combining sites, power supply, buildings, networks and compute platforms. If delivered, the programme could materially increase competition for Australian sites, grid interconnection, generation and data-center-ready shells.
