  • nVent’s new Blaine facility opened in early 2026 and reportedly doubled the company’s liquid-cooling capacity.
  • Blaine 2, a similarly sized planned facility, is expected to open in the first half of 2027.
  • nVent says the first expansion alone will not meet anticipated demand.
  • The company is preparing a modular liquid-cooling platform for an autumn 2026 launch.
  • Manufacturing capacity may become as consequential as cooling technology if AI data-center demand continues to build.

nVent Electric has expanded its liquid-cooling manufacturing footprint in Blaine, Minnesota, opening a new facility in early 2026. According to the company, the site effectively doubled its liquid-cooling capacity.

The company has said the completed expansion will not be sufficient for expected demand and has announced a second Blaine facility of similar size. Blaine 2 is expected to open in the first half of 2027; it remains a planned facility rather than an operational one.

The expansion is tied to rising thermal loads from newer AI chips and expected demand from data centers. nVent is also preparing a modular liquid-cooling platform for launch in autumn 2026. It expects total data-center sales to exceed $2 billion in 2026, more than double the prior-year level.

For data-center operators and infrastructure investors, the development points to a broader shift among cooling vendors from product development toward manufacturing scale-up. Higher AI rack heat densities increase the importance of available, scalable heat-rejection systems in data-center delivery. If projected demand materializes, competitive differentiation could increasingly depend not only on cooling technology but also on the ability to manufacture and deliver equipment at volume.

nVent management estimates that liquid cooling currently represents 10% to 15% of data-center cooling. That estimate, while not independent market data, indicates that further adoption could remain significant as AI infrastructure deployments expand.

Почему это важно

The move suggests cooling suppliers are expanding manufacturing capacity alongside product portfolios as AI rack heat densities increase. If demand develops as nVent expects, equipment availability and suppliers’ ability to scale production could become an important constraint on deployment of new AI data-center capacity.
