Midea Presents Data Center Liquid-Cooling Solution at Canton Fair

Редакция ЦОД:Главное

Midea presented a data center liquid-cooling solution, including a coolant distribution unit (CDU), at the 140th Canton Fair in Guangzhou. The company said the solution is designed to support an annual-average PUE as low as 1.2, with 2.6 MW of cooling capacity per CDU and scalability up to 4 MW.

  • Midea presented a data center liquid-cooling solution with a CDU at the 140th Canton Fair in Guangzhou.
  • The company claims an annual-average PUE as low as 1.2 for the solution.
  • A single CDU is stated to provide 2.6 MW of cooling capacity.
  • Midea states that the CDU solution can scale to 4 MW, although the configuration behind that figure was not disclosed.
  • No customer deployments, commissioned facilities, pricing or commercialization timetable were provided.

Midea used the 140th Canton Fair in Guangzhou, which opened on 15 October, to present a data center liquid-cooling solution within its Building Technologies portfolio. The exhibit included a CDU, alongside thermal-management products for energy-storage systems and other building, home and energy applications.

For the data center offering, Midea claims an annual-average PUE as low as 1.2. The company also states that a single CDU provides 2.6 MW of cooling capacity, while the solution can scale to a maximum of 4 MW. The source does not specify whether the 4 MW figure applies to a single CDU, a modular CDU arrangement or another system configuration.

Midea lists uninterrupted-maintenance capability, dual filtration and dual-circuit power supply among the CDU’s stated features. The announcement is a product presentation rather than evidence of a deployed data center installation; no customers, deliveries, commissioned sites, pricing or commercial deployment schedule were disclosed.

The move signals Midea’s positioning as a supplier of cooling infrastructure for high-density compute workloads, rather than solely a consumer-appliance manufacturer. The stated CDU capacity and PUE target suggest an effort to compete in energy-efficient liquid cooling. Should the claimed metrics be confirmed in operating environments, such systems could be relevant to data center operators seeking to constrain cooling energy consumption while accommodating denser IT loads.

Почему это важно

The presentation positions Midea beyond its traditional appliance markets and into infrastructure cooling for high-density compute. If its stated performance is validated in deployments, the offering could broaden the equipment options available to operators pursuing lower cooling energy use and support for denser IT loads.
