  • KT Cloud has announced a DBO role covering design, key-equipment construction, pre-commissioning and operations for Cheongna AIDC.
  • The planned facility has 50 MW of power reception capacity; no IT-load figure has been disclosed.
  • The design separates AI and cloud zones, with D2C liquid cooling planned for the AI area.
  • Hyundai Engineering is participating in construction, telecommunications and MEP work.

KT Cloud has announced its participation in the Cheongna AIDC project in Incheon as the facility’s design-build-operate (DBO) partner.

Under the announced delivery model, KT Cloud will be responsible for design, construction of key equipment, pre-commissioning work and subsequent operations. Hyundai Engineering is participating as a co-contractor for construction, telecommunications and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work.

Cheongna AIDC is planned with 50 MW of power reception capacity. This is an energy-interconnection metric; the available information does not specify the facility’s IT load. The building is planned to comprise two basement levels and 11 floors above ground.

The design calls for separate AI and cloud-service zones. KT Cloud plans to deploy direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling in the AI zone and use its DIMS infrastructure-management system. The proposed configuration points to a facility designed around the thermal and operational requirements of high-density GPU workloads, rather than a conventional uniform data-hall model.

Construction is targeted to start in Q4 2026, with completion targeted for Q1 2030. These are planned milestones, not confirmation that construction has begun or that the site has been commissioned.

For KT Cloud, the project forms part of a broader stated objective to build more than 1 GW of supply capacity by 2031. That figure is a future corporate target and does not represent commissioned capacity. If delivered as planned, Cheongna AIDC could support expansion of AI-oriented data-center capacity in the Seoul metropolitan area and reinforce demand for specialised liquid-cooling, engineering and operational capabilities.

Почему это важно

The planned facility would add AI-oriented data-center supply in the western Seoul metropolitan area. Its proposed separation of AI and cloud zones, alongside direct-to-chip liquid cooling for the AI area, indicates infrastructure planning for high-density GPU deployments and could increase demand for specialised cooling, engineering and operating capabilities.
