Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Advance Planned Data Center and AI Capacity Clusters

Редакция ЦОД:Главное

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are positioning energy-backed data center and AI infrastructure clusters as Central Asia competes for compute-intensive workloads. The proposals range from the planned expansion of Data Center Valley in Ekibastuz to gigawatt-scale power and data center initiatives in Karakalpakstan, alongside DataVolt’s TAS-1 build in Tashkent.

Главное
  • Data Center Valley in Ekibastuz has a prospective total-project capacity of up to 1 GW; its 215 MW first phase is reported as fully reserved.
  • A first 50 MW Data Center Valley facility is planned for the second quarter of 2027.
  • Uzbek authorities have announced six Karakalpakstan projects valued collectively at $8 billion, with plans for 1 GW of stable electricity for investors.
  • A planned Nukus district technology park could include up to 1 GW of data center capacity, linked to prospective wind-power infrastructure.
  • DataVolt’s TAS-1 in Tashkent has an approximately 12 MW first phase and was reported to be in the final stage of construction in October 2026.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are pursuing competing data center and AI infrastructure build-outs built around access to large-scale power, though much of the announced capacity remains prospective.

In Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan, Data Center Valley is being developed as a data center and AI infrastructure site with a prospective total-project capacity of up to 1 GW. Its first phase is rated at 215 MW and, according to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, has been fully reserved. A first 50 MW facility is planned for launch in the second quarter of 2027.

Investment in the current configuration of Data Center Valley is estimated at about $5 billion. The project’s stated electricity tariff begins at 2.5 US cents per kWh. Firebird AI and NVIDIA are identified among the project’s partners, although no details were provided on customer commitments or the terms underlying the reported reservation of the first phase.

Uzbekistan is also outlining large-scale infrastructure plans in Karakalpakstan. Authorities have announced six projects with a combined value of $8 billion and plans to provide investors with 1 GW of stable electricity. The investment figure applies collectively to all six projects and has not been allocated among individual developments.

Separately, a planned technology park in the Nukus district would include data centers with up to 1 GW of total-project capacity, supported by new energy infrastructure intended to connect with prospective wind power plants. Both the technology park and its associated power infrastructure remain planned initiatives rather than operating capacity.

In Tashkent, DataVolt is building the AI-ready TAS-1 data center at IT Park Uzbekistan. The first phase is designed for approximately 12 MW, while project financing raised totals $150 million. Uzbek authorities reported in October 2026 that construction was in its final stage; this does not establish that the facility has entered service.

The announced projects could create a significant new regional market for power infrastructure, cooling, networking equipment and AI compute systems. Their impact on available data center supply, however, will depend on execution of generation, grid and site construction plans, as well as the delivery of committed financing.

The developments indicate that Central Asian data center competition is increasingly centred on sites able to offer large volumes of stable, lower-cost electricity. If the proposed power infrastructure, financing and facilities are delivered, the projects could create a material regional market for AI-oriented data center capacity and associated power, cooling, network and compute infrastructure.
