IndexBox has published a global market outlook for rear-door heat exchangers (RDHx), forecasting faster adoption through 2035 as AI and HPC workloads increase rack densities in data centers. The report is a market assessment rather than an announcement of a specific deployment, contract or facility project.

Главное
  • IndexBox expects RDHx adoption to accelerate through 2035, driven by rising AI and HPC rack densities.
  • The outlook positions retrofits of existing server rooms as a significant use case for adding cooling capacity.
  • Asia-Pacific is expected to see the fastest market expansion; North America is identified as the largest market by revenue.
  • Specialized-component availability and lead times could constrain the pace of RDHx upgrades.
  • The report is a market forecast, not evidence of a specific deployment or procurement commitment.

IndexBox characterizes the global RDHx market as entering a phase of accelerated adoption in 2026. Its outlook attributes demand to higher rack densities, continued data-center capacity expansion, energy-efficiency requirements, and the growth of AI and HPC workloads.

Rear-door heat exchangers remove heat at the rack exhaust, positioning them as a rack-level option for facilities where room-based air cooling is increasingly constrained by high-density deployments. According to IndexBox, the technology can improve PUE and enable capacity expansion at space-constrained sites. A key prospective application is the retrofit of existing server rooms to increase cooling capability without major structural alterations.

The report expects the fastest regional market expansion in Asia-Pacific, including China, India and Southeast Asia. It identifies North America as the largest market by revenue, while linking European growth to sustainability-reporting requirements and heat-reuse initiatives.

For operators, colocation providers and hyperscalers, the outlook points to a potential shift from predominantly room-level air cooling toward rack-level solutions, particularly for AI and HPC environments. If adoption develops as projected, demand could broaden for heat exchangers, fans, control systems and liquid-loop infrastructure. However, IndexBox also flags supply-chain exposure: specialized components may face longer lead times during periods of elevated demand.

The assessment does not provide market-size, growth-rate, shipment, capacity or investment figures. Its projections depend on continued data-center expansion, AI/HPC load growth, pressure to improve PUE, and supply-chain conditions.

Почему это важно

RDHx could increase cooling capacity in existing server rooms and support higher rack densities without a comparable rebuild of the white space. If the forecast is borne out, rack-level cooling and integration with liquid cooling loops could become more prominent procurement categories for new builds and retrofit programs.
