  • IndexBox’s base case forecasts 6.2% CAGR for the global STS market in 2026–2035.
  • The forecast market index reaches 182 in 2035, with 2025 set to 100.
  • Data centers represent an estimated 37% of STS demand and are described as the largest, fastest-growing end-use segment.
  • Cloud, AI, big-data, hyperscale, colocation and edge expansion are cited as data-center demand drivers.
  • Semiconductor and IGBT availability, solid-state STS cost, certification and macroeconomic conditions remain key constraints.

IndexBox has published its outlook for the global static transfer switch market for 2026–2035, forecasting a 6.2% compound annual growth rate under its base-case scenario. The market index is projected to reach 182 by 2035, using 2025=100.

Data centers are identified as the largest and fastest-growing end-use market for STS, accounting for an estimated 37% of demand. IndexBox links this demand to the expansion of cloud, AI and big-data workloads, alongside growth in hyperscale, colocation and edge deployments. Higher rack densities and more stringent power-redundancy requirements are also cited as demand drivers.

STS are typically deployed between two independent AC power sources and transfer the load in milliseconds. In critical IT environments, that role makes them part of the electrical-resilience architecture supporting continuity of service during a source disruption.

For data-center operators and power-infrastructure suppliers, the outlook suggests that continued facility construction and modernization could expand the addressable market for critical-power equipment. As AI workloads, rack density and availability requirements rise, supplier competitiveness could increasingly depend on switching performance, integration with intelligent power management, modularity, energy efficiency and component supply-chain resilience.

IndexBox expects Asia-Pacific to lead both STS production and consumption, while North America and Europe remain significant modernization markets. The report identifies semiconductor and IGBT supply constraints, the higher initial cost of solid-state STS, certification requirements and macroeconomic uncertainty as factors that could alter the market’s actual trajectory.

Почему это важно

STS equipment is a core component of resilient power architectures for critical IT loads, transferring loads between independent AC sources in milliseconds. If the forecast holds, expansion and retrofits across hyperscale, colocation and edge data centers could continue to support demand for transfer switching as well as integrated, modular and intelligent power-management systems.
