  • Ho Chi Minh City has allocated approximately 4.46 hectares in Saigon Hi-Tech Park to Starmason for a planned data-center project.
  • The proposed development has stated total investment of US$480.26 million and a maximum planned equipment capacity of 90 MW.
  • The project is intended for phased delivery; the size and timing of individual phases have not been disclosed.

  • The facility is intended to meet Tier III requirements and targets Tier IV certification, which has not been confirmed.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has decided to lease approximately 44,591 square metres of land in Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP), in Tăng Nhơn Phú, to Starmason for a planned hyperscale data center.

The land lease runs for 50 years, through March 24, 2076. Starmason is a joint venture between Sembcorp Development and BB Holding, with Sembcorp Development holding a 49% stake.

The project carries stated total investment of US$480.26 million and is planned for phased delivery. Its maximum planned equipment capacity is 90 MW. The reported capacity is described as equipment capacity; the source does not specify whether this represents IT load, total facility capacity or electricity consumption.

The facility is intended to meet Tier III requirements and targets Tier IV certification under Uptime Institute criteria. The Tier IV objective should not be read as confirmation that such certification has been obtained.

For Vietnam’s digital-infrastructure market, a project of this scale could drive substantial requirements for data-center systems, power supply and cooling infrastructure if it proceeds on the stated parameters. However, the city’s land allocation confirms a planned development rather than a construction start or operational facility, and key delivery and infrastructure details remain undisclosed.

Почему это важно

If developed as proposed, the project could become a material source of new data-center infrastructure demand in Vietnam, including for power, cooling and equipment supporting cloud, AI and large-scale data-processing workloads. Its phased structure could allow infrastructure deployment to track demand, although neither the initial phase nor grid connection details have been disclosed.
