Hitachi and Mission Critical Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a strategic partnership around data center infrastructure. The agreement covers joint development of solutions intended to expand the HMAX Data Center portfolio, global go-to-market activity and cross-selling of products and energy solutions.
MCG supplies modular equipment that combines power supply and electrical distribution for data centers, primarily in North America. Under the proposed collaboration, Hitachi Energy and MCG intend to combine their power technologies to provide data center operators with integrated electrical infrastructure spanning high-, medium- and low-voltage systems.
Hitachi also plans to integrate its data-collection and AI analytics technologies into MCG’s modular power equipment. The parties have identified post-delivery digital services, including power-equipment monitoring, predictive maintenance and energy-use optimization, as areas for joint development.
The companies further plan to pursue joint modular data center projects and to sell through their respective global customer bases. In market terms, the planned combination of modular electrical infrastructure with digital monitoring, AI-enabled analytics and operational services may indicate a shift toward more integrated data center power offerings. Such an approach could help suppliers shorten deployment cycles and expand post-delivery service revenue, while potentially reducing the number of interfaces operators must manage across power infrastructure and digital operations.
The announcement concerns an MoU rather than a completed supply agreement, commissioned project or confirmed customer order. No investment value, project capacity, customer names, deployment geographies, number of projects or implementation timetable has been disclosed.
The proposed partnership combines MCG’s modular power and distribution equipment for data centers with Hitachi’s grid infrastructure, cooling, AI infrastructure and digital analytics portfolio. If executed, it could strengthen the availability of integrated, modular and digitally managed power systems for data center operators, while reducing integration points between electrical infrastructure and operational software.
