  • Firebird has received a US export licence covering 45,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs for a planned Kazakhstan project.
  • The first Firebird phase with Kazakhtelecom at Data Center Valley is targeted for commercial launch in Q3 2027.
  • Firebird’s approximately 500 MW figure is a second-phase total-infrastructure target, not operational capacity.
  • Kazakhtelecom has deployed 400 NVIDIA H200 and 480 NVIDIA B300 GPUs in Astana and Almaty.
  • Kazakhtelecom also plans GPU deployments at Data Center Valley and in the Ekibastuz area, but the schedule is not specified beyond “next year.”

Firebird is planning an NVIDIA Grace Blackwell-based AI infrastructure rollout in Kazakhstan after securing a US export licence covering 45,000 GPUs. The company’s first phase is being prepared jointly with Kazakhtelecom at Data Center Valley, with commercial launch targeted for the third quarter of 2027.

The planned deployment remains at the preparation stage. The export licence authorises GPU supply, but does not confirm that the equipment has been delivered, installed or commissioned. Firebird has also outlined a second-phase objective to bring the total capacity of its infrastructure in Kazakhstan to approximately 500 MW. This is a total-project target rather than commissioned capacity, and no first-phase power capacity, second-phase timetable, power-supply arrangement, CAPEX or site technical configuration has been disclosed.

Kazakhtelecom is expanding its own NVIDIA GPU estate in parallel. The operator has deployed 400 NVIDIA H200 GPUs and 480 NVIDIA B300 GPUs across Astana and Almaty. It also plans to place more than 1,000 GPUs at Data Center Valley and a further more than 1,000 GPUs on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform in the Ekibastuz area. These additional deployments are described only as planned for “next year”; no calendar date has been provided.

For the infrastructure market, the combination of Firebird’s capacity target and Kazakhtelecom’s GPU expansion points to potential demand beyond accelerators themselves. If the programmes advance as outlined, they could require AI-ready data-center capacity, grid connections, cooling systems designed for high-density compute, network infrastructure and compute-access services. The scale and timing of that demand remain contingent on the planned deployments proceeding.

If executed, Firebird’s second-phase target of approximately 500 MW of total infrastructure capacity in Kazakhstan would represent material potential demand for AI-ready data-center sites, grid interconnection, high-density cooling and network infrastructure. Alongside Kazakhtelecom’s separate GPU deployments and expansion plans, the programme could increase competition for power capacity and specialised physical infrastructure supporting high-density AI workloads.
