- The project targets approximately 200 MW of total grid-connected capacity, rather than stated IT load or live capacity.
- The site area is approximately 71,787 square metres.
- Phase I carries a preliminary budget of about ¥400 billion and targets development-permit approval during fiscal 2028.
- Construction, grid-connection execution and commissioning have not been disclosed.
fantasista’s board resolved on 9 September 2026 to advance development of an AI data center in Aoba Ward, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The project would use a site owned by NC MAX WORLD, a consolidated subsidiary of fantasista.
The planned AI data center is expected to have approximately 200 MW of total grid-connected capacity. This is a planned energy-connection figure, not disclosed IT load or operational capacity. The site covers about 71,787 square metres.
For Phase I, fantasista has indicated a preliminary budget of approximately ¥400 billion and is targeting development-permit approval during fiscal 2028. The disclosed budget applies to the first phase only; no total-project budget has been provided.
If it progresses through permitting and power-development stages, the project could support the expansion of AI compute infrastructure beyond Japan’s largest metropolitan areas. Its planned scale could create demand for grid interconnection, power supply, site infrastructure and data center equipment. Those potential requirements should not be read as contracted capacity, committed capital expenditure or commissioned data center capacity.
The development remains at the planning stage. No construction start, executed power connection, commissioning date or operational timeline has been disclosed.
At the planned scale, the project would rank as significant regional AI infrastructure in Japan. It also illustrates how available power supply and grid interconnection capacity are becoming central site-selection constraints for large AI data center developments.
