- The Netherlands-based startup is developing an alternative AI-inference architecture rather than a conventional GPU-based platform.
- Planned commercialization includes integrated hardware and rack-level systems for enterprise customers, alongside potential IP licensing.
- The potential data-center benefit is lower power and infrastructure demand, but this has not been demonstrated in large-scale commercial deployments.
Euclyd, an Eindhoven, Netherlands-based startup founded in 2024, has announced $231 million in funding with participation from Samsung and several European investment organizations.
The company intends to expand its engineering team, accelerate development of its chip and system portfolio, and build partnerships to support commercialization. Euclyd is developing an AI-inference chip system that differs from conventional GPU architectures by combining processor and memory technologies.
Its proposed commercial model includes supplying enterprise customers with integrated hardware and rack-level systems for AI inference. Euclyd is also considering licensing its intellectual property to other chip developers.
For data-center operators, the relevant proposition is Euclyd’s claim that its platform can lower energy consumption and infrastructure costs for AI data centers. If validated at commercial scale, alternative inference hardware could broaden the available compute-platform options and potentially reduce power and supporting-infrastructure requirements relative to less efficient alternatives.
That outcome remains unproven. Euclyd’s energy and infrastructure-cost claims are company assertions, and its technology has not yet been tested in large-scale commercial deployments. The company has not disclosed performance specifications, power-consumption data, market-entry timing, shipment volumes, valuation, or the specific terms of Samsung’s participation.
The round highlights continuing investment in alternatives to conventional GPU-based infrastructure for AI inference. Euclyd says its architecture could reduce data-center energy consumption and associated infrastructure costs, but those claims have not yet been validated through large-scale commercial deployments.
