  • Construction has begun on Digital Realty’s first Turkish data center, at the Temelli campus in Ankara.
  • The initial Ankara facility is planned for more than 22 MW of carrier-neutral IT capacity and more than 10,000 square metres of white space.
  • The first facility is targeted for completion in 2028 and is not yet operational.
  • Digital Realty and Rönesans Infrastructure are pursuing a long-term target of 200 MW of IT capacity across Ankara and Istanbul.
  • The up-to-US$3 billion figure applies to the potential two-site programme, not solely to the initial Ankara facility.

Digital Realty has broken ground on its first data center in Türkiye, at the Temelli data center campus in Ankara. The campus is being developed by a joint venture between Digital Realty and Rönesans Infrastructure.

The initial facility is planned with more than 22 MW of carrier-neutral IT capacity and more than 10,000 square metres of white space. Completion is targeted for 2028; the facility has not been commissioned. According to the available source, the site, permits and power supply for the first facility have been secured.

The Ankara project is the first step in a broader two-city strategy. The joint venture also intends to develop a data center in Istanbul and is seeking, over the long term, to deploy a combined 200 MW of IT capacity across the Ankara and Istanbul locations. The partners put the potential investment for the two-site programme at up to US$3 billion.

If executed, the proposed expansion could increase the supply of carrier-neutral data center infrastructure in Türkiye for enterprise, government, cloud and AI workloads. However, the 200 MW target and the stated investment potential are long-term ambitions across both locations, not capacity under construction at the first Ankara facility. No construction timetable for the Istanbul site, capacity split between the two cities, or phasing of the 200 MW programme has been provided.

Почему это важно

The project marks Digital Realty’s entry into Türkiye with an initial facility exceeding 22 MW of IT capacity. The partners’ longer-term plan for 200 MW of IT capacity across Ankara and Istanbul could materially expand carrier-neutral infrastructure available to enterprise, public-sector, cloud and AI workloads, although this remains a long-term target rather than deployed capacity.
