National Jobsite Catering has deployed a mobile food-service model for workers building data centers in six US markets: Northern Virginia, Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, Nevada and Georgia.

The company prepares food in off-site kitchens and delivers it to break areas at construction sites. According to its founder, it serves about 1,500 meals per day, on average, at each of 12 data center construction sites. The busiest sites handle roughly twice the average volume.

The food-service costs are paid by the large technology companies developing AI infrastructure, while local restaurants and catering companies are also participating in scaling service for the influx of construction labor.

For the data center sector, the activity is an indirect indicator of the labor concentration associated with large and sustained construction programs. It also points to a broader value chain around development sites, extending beyond developers, contractors and equipment suppliers to temporary workforce-support services.

That demand is inherently construction-linked. Source reporting describes crews completing their work and moving on after one to three years, but this is a general description of crew cycles rather than a confirmed schedule for any individual project. Catering volumes therefore should not be used to infer commissioned capacity, operating utilization, project ownership, CAPEX or the development status of specific data centers.

Почему это важно

The activity illustrates how sustained data center construction is creating a secondary market for temporary site infrastructure and workforce services. Catering demand is tied to the construction cycle and should not be treated as an indicator of operational data center load or commissioned capacity.
