Singapore-registered Brightray, whose sole manufacturer is Chinese prefabricated-data-center supplier PrefabDC, has identified the U.S. as a high-potential market for AI data-center construction. The company says U.S. demand is stronger than in China, but its prospective market access comes amid potential U.S. restrictions on Chinese AI models and data-center components.

  • Brightray says it sees stronger AI data-center demand in the United States than in China.
  • Chinese company PrefabDC is Brightray’s sole manufacturer of prefabricated data centers, while Brightray manages construction.
  • The cited 2025 count was 5,427 AI data centers in the United States versus 449 in China.
  • Potential U.S. restrictions on Chinese AI models and data-center components remain under consideration and could affect supplier access.
  • No U.S. Brightray project, capacity, site, CAPEX or timeline has been disclosed.

Brightray is seeking to participate in the U.S. AI data-center construction market, positioning its delivery model around Chinese manufacturer PrefabDC. Brightray manages project construction, while PrefabDC is its sole manufacturing partner for prefabricated data centers.

Brightray global vice president S.K. Lee said the company sees substantial opportunity in the United States and stronger demand there than in China. No specific U.S. contract, site, capacity, capital expenditure or delivery schedule has been identified in the available information.

The addressable market is materially larger in the United States by the data cited. The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence counted 5,427 AI data centers in the United States in 2025, compared with 449 in China. CNBC estimates that Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon will collectively spend about $765 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026. That figure is an estimate rather than confirmed expenditure.

China, meanwhile, has outlined a five-year plan to invest $295 billion in data-center construction. This is a government plan, not reported deployed investment.

For modular infrastructure vendors, the scale of U.S. AI demand could support interest in prefabricated deployments, where construction execution is managed separately from manufacturing. However, the supply-chain proposition faces an unresolved policy backdrop: the U.S. administration is considering potential restrictions on Chinese open-weight AI models and new categories of Chinese data-center components.

If such measures advance, they could fragment the data-center equipment supply chain and increase the importance of equipment origin in procurement decisions, alongside price and deployment speed. The scope, final form and timing of any restrictions have not been determined.

Почему это важно

The move highlights the attraction of the U.S. AI-infrastructure buildout for overseas modular data-center suppliers. It also illustrates how supplier origin, cybersecurity concerns and possible trade or regulatory measures could increasingly affect procurement decisions alongside construction speed and cost.
