  • At Tokyo plans a phased expansion of ATBeX connectivity in the Osaka area beginning in November 2026.
  • The programme includes planned redundant connectivity to the AWS Direct Connect location at Telehouse OSAKA2.
  • Customers are expected to receive two connection-service options for the AWS Osaka Region.
  • No capacity, connection-point count, SLA, CAPEX or commercial details have been disclosed.

At Tokyo plans to strengthen connectivity across its ATBeX Osaka Zone, expanding both connection services and connection points from November 2026 on a phased basis.

A central element of the announced initiative is planned redundant connectivity to an AWS Direct Connect location. Telehouse OSAKA2 is identified as the AWS Direct Connect location whose connectivity will be enhanced. At Tokyo also intends to offer customers two selectable connection-service options for the AWS Osaka Region.

For operators and colocation customers connected to ATBeX in western Japan, the programme could increase the range and resilience of available cloud interconnection paths. The announcement may therefore support the competitiveness of facilities and operators using the platform by providing more robust access to AWS in Osaka.

The announcement remains a forward plan rather than confirmation of an operational deployment. At Tokyo has not disclosed the number of additional connection points, bandwidth, SLA parameters, investment levels, commercial terms or expected customer demand. The technical distinctions between the two planned service options have also not been provided.

Почему это важно

The planned expansion could improve resilience and cloud-connectivity choice for data-center and network-platform customers in western Japan. It also signals demand for redundant interconnection and cloud access, although the scale of the rollout cannot be quantified from the available information.
