AMD said it began shipping Helios rack systems in the third quarter and is increasing production in subsequent quarters. The company characterised demand for high-performance computing as strong and said the Helios production expansion is progressing successfully.

The company also said that adding the World Labs team will help it develop stronger products for next-generation models, combining innovation across hardware, software, systems and models. No transaction terms, closing date or legal details were disclosed in the available material.

For the underlying compute platform, AMD said its EPYC Venice server processors use TSMC’s 3 nm process and CoWoS advanced packaging. AMD described TSMC as an indispensable advanced-packaging partner and said the market will require additional capacity. It also cited strong adoption of EPYC Venice among hyperscalers and enterprise customers.

For data-center infrastructure buyers, the development points to a broader AMD effort to increase the availability of integrated compute systems for AI and HPC deployments. However, this remains dependent on the supply of leading-edge process capacity and CoWoS packaging. AMD’s comments suggest those constraints could continue to present supply-chain risk for platforms based on these technologies.

AMD did not disclose Helios shipment volumes, production capacity, customer numbers, revenue, or a timetable for further expansion. The company identified the start of Helios shipments only as the third quarter, without specifying a calendar year.

Почему это важно

For data-center operators, the availability of Helios systems and EPYC platforms is increasingly tied to AMD’s ability to scale supply through TSMC’s advanced manufacturing and CoWoS packaging chain. AMD’s planned production ramp could expand access to integrated AI and HPC infrastructure, but supply remains sensitive to advanced-node and packaging capacity constraints.
